Who or What is afomie?

When I became an artist and writer, I was thinking of names for my brand. There were so many names, but they all seemed too "professional." My personality has always been "free-spirited" or "crazy," as most people call it. And I loved it. I love being different. Going against the flow.

One day, when registering my small business account, I wrote down my acronym for it. AFOM. I liked how it sounded and started to sing it. Eventually, I started saying, "AFOM is me!" really fast and sounded like AFOMie. It sounded so cute that I started using the name afomie for everything business-related.

That's how the name 'afomie' was born. It's no longer a 'what' but a 'who.'

afomie steps over boundaries and doesn't follow most rules. afomie is loving, daring, kind, protective, free-spirited, crazy, and adventurous.

afomie has a loving husband and three beautiful children (cat queens)!

Inspiration When Creating Art

I create art pieces at my lowest points. When I fall into a rut of depression, anger, dissociation, anxiety, panic, and psychosis, I paint. I paint until I feel peace for the moment. Sometimes, art pieces can take three weeks, others three months. It all depends on what my mind and body are going through.

The painting process is rough. When going in with a brush, the side strokes look like they could tear through the canvas (luckily, it's very sturdy!), and texturizing is very messy.

Interestingly, I find the paintings to be calm-looking. When in reality, it was created from internal chaos.

Inspiration When Writing My Novel

I wrote my book when I felt the most happy and the most angry. The wholesome scenes were when I felt at peace in my state of mind. The darker scenes were when I felt the utmost anger. Like painting, writing helps me release. It's like my figurative punching bag or somewhere to escape to share my peace.

It is written from the main character's perspective, so you can understand how she thinks and feels every step of her life. You are there for the ride, from the puzzling parts to the chaotic.

The novel combines my experiences, and others meshed into one with dramatization. It is my FIRST-ever novel. I really hope you enjoy reading it as I enjoyed writing it. ♡
